Publish or Perish

The expression "publish or perish" is familiar for most, and true to some extent in the academia. In the blog world, though, it's not quite true. I hadn't published for a while and guess what? I have not perished -- yet! Maybe that's just because I have written drafts, but they're not publishable in the public domain.

Don't let your imagination take you to the wrong place; my unpublished writings are mainly about my quiet objections to the blunt academic system, anti-social aspects of life in a cold town the middle of no where, my transient outrage when something goes wrong, or other boring stuff. No one, except my family and friends, will ever want to hear about those stories and they have (and will) hear those stories by more personal means of communications, anyways.

Relatively chill

When you live in a place with the chance of arctic blasts, you would say -8C is warm, relatively. This morning, the temperature got below -30C and there was a wind chill factor. It felt like -45C and for the first time, I felt what -45C means. It means nothing. You will be under a pile of clothes and you wouldn't even feel it is colder than -20C. Yet, taking off layer after layer when I got to school; ski pants on jeans and hoodie on sweater under the winter coat reminded me that today is different.
