{science.standards} IEEE PDF eXpress
The manuscript preparation hassle ... This time I followed every bit of advice from the conference and read all the comments to generate a hassle-free manuscript. All in vein. Now I am really driving nuts here. Using LaTeX and dvi2ps the .ps file is generated nicely. Fat. I used two methods to convert this .ps file to a wicked .pdf file and check the IEEE Xplore compatibility through the eXpress service:
(a) to convert the .ps from the GhostView (using the 'F' command, isn't it ironic that it is called the 'F' command?) and select "embedd all fonts" as true and the rest of the adjustments according to this. eXpress failed and
(b) using Adobe Distiller and embedding the fonts from there. First, I try embedding all fonts. It can't find some fonts to embed. Helvetica. Times-Roman. Times-Italic, and etc. How on earth have you found them to show them on the screen then, loser? Then, I enforce Distiller to "always embed fonts", those that are as simple as Times-Roman and Helvetica but still eXpress fails with the error message that those fonts are not embedded.
I search for the problem and google returns 761 hits, Adobe's support knowledgebase among them. Solutions 1 and 2 did not work and I only had 3 tries with this eXpress service. I am set up. It's like playing a game you think you are good at, and from no where a dragon appears and kills all your 3 lives in blink of an eye. I am set up by all those computer scientists (oh yeah, scientists they are) involved in this childish bug.
'Veh, do you have any solutions to my incompatibility problem?

simply use TeX's own "pdflatex" command to generated a pdf file directly. You might be able to use "dvipdf" command as well.

Thanks Kaveh, but I think pdflatex has the problem of not reading .eps figures and works best with .jpg figures. dvi2pdf generates a .pdf file, as it converts the available .dvi to .pdf, but I couldn't configure the conversion (to embed all fonts and maintain high resolution for the figures), so I tried converting the .ps to .pdf outside LaTeX. Anyways, I was up all night, just couldn't figure out how to embed the obvious fonts that was not found on my pc! I know this looks funny, but I think that I don't have Times-Roman, Times-Italic, Times-BoldItalic, and Helvetica. I also found that Distiller uses similar fonts, and does not use the originals (e.g., arielMT instead of Helvetica). Anyways, the same IEEE PDF eXperess service has an option of converting .ps files to IEEE Xplore-compatible .pdf files. I am a happy boy now.

What platform are you using Azad? Is it windows? If it is then maybe you are using the old versions of the files. My old Latex2pdf had the problem you said, my new ones are OK so I don't use ps2pdf anymore.

Hi Omid, I am using MikTeX 2.4 and I installed it around end of April from miktex.org. The following is a copy-paste from the TeXed log file:
This is e-TeX, Version 3.141592-2.2 (MiKTeX 2.4) (preloaded format=latex 2005.4.29)
I use WinEdt 5.4, but that's only a GUI I guess. As I mentioned, my problem was not generating .pdf files. In fact, I can generate .pdf files that are according to the eBook job-options, but still this is not IEEE Xplore-compatible.
Find the FAQ section from the followng link:

I think embedding fonts is a common problem. There is a way to check this from Adobe Acrobat. From "Document Properties" check "Fonts" (or Ctrl+Alt+F) and check to see if all of the fonts are "Embedded subset". If positive, and the image resolutions are within their designated range, the file would be Xplore-compatible.

Everything you have is even more uptodate than mine! (note: Latex version number is the decimal value of pi, it's a spoof!)
I don'y know what the ptoblem
is :( I have never used this Xplore compatibility test myself.

Don't worry Omid, it's solved now (thanks to eXpress help).
Cheers

I had the same problem and I solved it with these two steps:
1.- Generate the .ps file with WinEdt launching GSView (Control+Shift+G)
2.- In GSView: file / convert / pdfwrite. Before convert set (with the Properties button) all the fonts as embed and increase the resolution of the images to 720. There are many other possibilities.
The PDF generated passed the PDF eXpress check in my second step of three (uff...).
